bridal bouquet ideas

The perfect wedding includes gorgeous flowers and pristinely designed bouquets. Bouquets for the bride and bridal party are essential components to a traditional wedding. However, many brides are not traditional yet still like to incorporate bouquets into their wedding. Thankfully there are many creative ideas for bouquets, some traditional and some very non-traditional but all beautiful.

One thing to consider when deciding on a bouquet is the size. It is important to take into consideration the size of the bride. Bouquets can overpower a bride if they are too large for her frame. Bouquets should be designed to balance out the shape of the bride. With that said, bouquets can still be made to fit the personality of the bride and the style of the wedding. There are many different styles of bouquets to consider and many have a unique history of how they came to be designed, which may intrigue some brides.

The Posy bouquet is a simple round and smaller bouquet. It can be held in one hand and embellished with pearls and wrapped in ribbon or silk. Although traditionally done with roses a posy bouquet could include any favorite flower of the bride.

Another option is a Nosegay bouquet. This is traditionally a smaller bouquet that contains more greenery and sometimes herbs. A more modern twist to a bouquet is an Arm Sheaf or Presentation bouquet. This type of bouquet replicates the flowers given to actresses or performers in the early 1900s. They are long stemmed flowers with some foliage and can be carried in the bride’s arm. Some types of flowers that make great Arm Sheaf bouquets are calla lilies or orchids. The Biedermerier bouquet is becoming popular in America having originating in Europe specifically in Switzerland in the late 1800s. This beautifully designed and carefully arranged bouquet with flowers in a circular pattern has several rings of flowers of different colors. These bouquets are colorful and eye catching which has made them popular.

When choosing a bouquet for a wedding, the personality of the bride should be shown. Choosing a flower that is special to the bride and colors that she loves is most important. Unique bouquets are fun and memorable. Ultimately the bride should select a bouquet that pleases her and shows off her personality.
